📣 Coming this November: Ramsgate’s New History Exhibition

Thanet Trust is excited to announce that we’re developing a brand-new local history exhibition celebrating the people, places, stories and memories that make Ramsgate what it is.

And we want the community to help us build it.

Over the coming months, we’ll be inviting local people to get involved in all sorts of ways:

• historical research,
• oral histories,
• identifying old photographs,
• model making,
• exhibition design,
• photography,
• filmmaking, and more.

We’ll also be asking Ramsgate residents to help shape the exhibition’s focus and to share or loan photographs, objects, documents and memories that could become part of the final displays.

The exhibition will take place in November 2026, with full dates and further details to be announced soon.

The amount of time you can volunteer for this project is up to you, as we want this to be as inclusive as possible. We also have space at our office for a few people at a time to use for their voluntary efforts, or some of our tasks can be done remotely.

What rewards come with volunteering, and how does it create meaningful change?

The work you carry out will help put on a successful local history exhibition.

Some of your work may be part of a display, or it could be design work, making props (we’re thinking about making a Hooden Horse), research to support what we have on display, or you may want to run a workshop about something locally focused.

This will create meaningful change through increasing civic pride, giving people something to do, sharing skills, helping improve CVs, and much more.

Requirements

An interest in supporting a local charity and a willingness to carry out the task, as well as the time available to do so.
