KCV Projects Task Force: Volunteer Led Gardening Project Telephone: 01303 259007 Email: [email protected] Folkestone & Hythe Hub The Task Force Gardening Project: - provides an affordable gardening service for 65 service users who are elderly or perhaps have disabilities that hinder their ability to maintain their much-loved gardens in the Folkestone and Hythe area. Currently part funded by KCC, this chargeable weekday service is led by our KCV Taskforce Co-ordinator along with 3 volunteers who assist in the daily care, supervision and safe working of up to 16 volunteers, some of whom have learning or mental health disabilities. Information for clients Clients are usually referred to us through bodies including KCC Adult Social Care (03000 41 61 61 Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm), although many now have learned about us through friends. Gardening is very basic; grass cutting, hedge trimming, pruning, weeding borders and edges, small fence repairs and general tidying. The Task Force has its own van and provides transport for the volunteers and the equipment used, as we know that many clients do not have their own. The project does not supply a regular maintenance service but clients who require follow up visits are accommodated wherever possible. There is a small hourly charge (currently £12.00ph) to help cover running costs, and donations are always very much appreciated. Due to the demand for gardening services there is currently a waiting list. You can however still register your interest by emailing [email protected]. If you are a local business and would like to help us continue this much needed and much valued service through sponsorship or donation then please contact us via the Folkestone Main Office Telephone: 01303 259007 or Email [email protected].
