About Us

Deal Area Foodbank & Pantry supports individuals and families facing food insecurity across our local area. We provide emergency food parcels and affordable pantry access, while working with partners to help tackle the root causes of food poverty. Our aim is to offer dignity, hope, and practical help to all who need us.

We are a registered charity governed by a small board of trustees who provide oversight, governance, and strategic direction. We are now looking to expand the skills and diversity of our board as we grow and strengthen our impact in the community.

What We’re Looking For

We are particularly keen to appoint trustees with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Legal and Governance: Charity law, safeguarding, GDPR, risk and compliance.
  • Operations and Logistics: Supply chain, warehouse or inventory management, health and safety.
  • Marketing and Communications: PR, branding, campaigns, social media, local press engagement.
  • Digital and IT Systems: Charity tech tools, digital transformation, data management.
  • Community Voice / Lived Experience: Insight into food insecurity or community support needs, either from personal experience or working closely with affected groups.

We’re open to candidates from all backgrounds, including those with no previous board experience. If you’re passionate about tackling food poverty and committed to our values of dignity, compassion and collaboration, we’d love to hear from you.

Trustee Responsibilities

All trustees share the following, core responsibilities:

  • Ensure the charity complies with its governing documents and legal obligations.
  • Provide strategic direction and challenge to ensure we meet our mission.
  • Oversee the charity’s financial health and use of resources.
  • Act as an ambassador for the charity and uphold our reputation.
  • Support the Chair and the wider board in decision-making, risk management, and planning.
