Whether you want to volunteer, or you need a volunteer, start your journey here.
You’ll be amazed at the variety of opportunities available to you from charities, community groups and other volunteer-involving organisations near you. Volunteering can be incredibly rewarding. Start your volunteer journey here.
If you are a local charity, community group or not for profit volunteer-involving organisation, KCV is keen to promote your volunteering opportunities. We can support you in other ways too.
Our volunteer befrienders are matched with older people with an aim to reduce that person’s loneliness and help them to maintain their independence. As a befriender you will be introduced to a client who lives close by and, between you, decide how regular your visits will be and what you both want to get out of those visits. This could be as simple as a weekly chat and a cup of tea around the client’s house, or a walk outside or to the local shops. Befrienders are not there to clean the house or help with medication, but most other things are open for discussion, just whatever works for both of you!
If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer Driver, we would love to hear from you. Our drivers, and the service they provide, are invaluable to the community. Volunteer drivers are asked to take people who are unable, or find it difficult due to mobility, disability, frailty, or location for example, to access public transport to get to hospital, medical and other pre-agreed appointments.
You will need a full clean driving licence, car insurance (fully comprehensive desirable) and MOT certificate if applicable. Mileage expenses are always covered.
