Description

Every year, tonnes of perfectly good fruit is left unharvested in orchards. Farm Rescue is The Felix Project’s initiative to save that surplus and get it to people who need it most.

By joining a volunteering shift at one of our Kent orchards you’ll help prevent waste, protect the environment, and provide fresh, healthy food for families across London.

One day of your time = hundreds of kilos of fruit saved. This will be redistributed as fresh fruit, squeezed into juices, or baked into tasty treats for people facing food insecurity.

Where and When

Our Farm Rescue shifts run throughout September and October at beautiful orchards in and around Kent:

  • Little Mill & HE Hall — Marden, Kent (TN12)
Dates: Tuesdays and Fridays in early September, plus additional autumn dates.
  • Davenport — Horsmonden, Kent (TN12)
Dates: Mid-September onwards, typically Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
  • Laurel Tree — East Sussex (near Kent border)
Dates: Selected Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays in September and October.

Shift times: Full-day sessions, usually 09:30–15:00 (check your chosen date for exact timings).

New dates are added regularly, book early to secure your spot.

Why volunteer with The Felix Project?

The Felix Project is London’s biggest food redistribution charity. We work with businesses to rescue their good quality surplus food – food that would otherwise go to waste – and deliver it free of charge to hundreds of local charities and schools in London to help children and families, the elderly, the homeless, and more.

  • Fight hunger – last year we delivered over 38 million meals to over 1,200 charities and schools in London.
  • Stop food waste and protect the environment – by volunteering with us, not only are you helping to feed Londoners in need but you are also protecting the environment by preventing this precious food from ending up in landfill.
  • Make a huge difference to your local area AND to the whole of London.

What rewards come with volunteering, and how does it create meaningful change?
