Description

We are looking for friendly and capable event stewards to support the The Kent Miners’ Festival in on 23rd August.  The event brings together the community to celebrate our local heritage; including coal mining. There will be vintage vehicles, games, food, bar, live music, stalls and lots more.  We need people who are happy interacting with the public to support the running of the day. Roles may include meet & greet, running a family game/activity, car park stewarding, moving tables/chairs/gazebos, AV technical support.

What rewards come with volunteering, and how does it create meaningful change?

Benefits:

You do not need to be available for the whole day to volunteer, any time you can give will be much appreciated.

Free vintage shuttle bus service from surrounding towns & villages (see our website for timetable)

Free parking for all volunteers

Discounted food and drinks from Moore Delights

Opportunities for further volunteering experiences in our museum, archives, learning & engagement department and events programme.

Immerse yourself in the friendly and fun atmosphere of this popular family fun day, working alongside likeminded people to help keep the legacy of the Kent Coalfield alive. Learn about it’s history and traditions, meet the former miners and even join in walking with their union banners in the opening ceremony. This opportunity is ideal for anyone who would like to give back to their community but may not have regular hours to contribute.

Requirements

We are looking for stewards that are:

Happy interacting with the public

Able to work as part of a team

Able to work independently if required

Happy to work outside.

We are also looking for an individual who has audio visual experience to help screen historical interest films in the museum on the day of the festival – please see separate opportunity.
