This FREE basic-level one-day introductory course includes lunch, tea and coffee, and all participants receive a certificate. Your travel expenses to your local course are covered. It runs for approximately six hours, aiming to start at 9am and finish by 3.15pm. The times are flexible to allow for school drop off/pick up etc to make it accessible to all.

  • Do you feel that a lack of confidence is holding you back or making finding volunteering or paid work difficult?
  • Would you like to learn how to improve your self-esteem and how to feel more valued?
  • Maybe you want tips on how to handle interviews and meetings?
  • This course is packed full of hints and tips.
  • Tips include how to cope in challenging situations, such as interviews for voluntary or paid work, and how to be more assertive, including the power to say ‘no.’
  • We can’t teach confidence or self-esteem in one day, but our aim is that at the end of the day you’ll feel more confident than when you walked in.
  • You don’t need any prior experience to attend.

By the end of this course, you will have an understanding of the following

  • What is confidence and what does confidence mean to you
  • How to recognise confident people
  • How confident people behave
  • Changing self-belief and harnessing positive self-belief
  • Adopting the right attitude, how to say NO
  • Positive self-talk
  • Taking actions and making decisions
  • Creating positive outcomes
  • 11 steps to becoming a more positive you
  • People seeing confidence in you

Who is this course aimed at?

We provide free courses for individuals interested in volunteering who perhaps need a confidence boost before taking those first steps into volunteering. If you are an individual living in the Dover, Folkestone & Hythe and Thanet districts, interested in doing one of our basic-level, introductory courses and you meet the below requirements then please get in touch with the team. at training@kcv.org.uk

Course participants must be:

  • 19 years of age or over
  • unwaged (unemployed/retired/house person) or low-waged
  • UK/EU Citizen
