Job opportunity

Working at Kent Coast Volunteering (KCV) is more than “just another job”, it’s a chance to be part of something that really matters with a team that truly cares. You probably already know us; we are a recognised brand in Thanet, Dover, and Folkestone & Hythe, supporting volunteers and Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIO’s) to respond to social challenges, meet needs and improve quality of life. We also run an accredited befriending Service, The Good Neighbours Service, and a fantastic Community Transport Service, which is where we need you!

We are looking for a second Transport Coordinator for 12-hours a week over three days to join our Senior Transport Coordinator and team of office volunteers running this vital and much-loved community service.

You will be helping some of the most vulnerable people in our community get to where they want to go. Our service is a lifeline.

The transport office is a busy, exciting fast-paced environment, being able to multitask is key.

Could you answer the phone, make a booking and send an email, while welcoming a visitor to the office?

Are you a team player? Could you work with the team and liaise with volunteer drivers, to make sure we get as many people to essential medical appointments as possible?

Experience is desirable but not essential.

Perhaps you have worked in a call centre or had a similar experience? Perhaps you just love to feel useful, are confident using Microsoft Office, are able work quickly, good at building rapport with people and have a desire to make a difference.

It’s more than a taxi service it is a transport service that truly cares. It’s staffed by volunteer drivers and office volunteers who want to make a difference and love speaking with clients to check how they are doing.

We would love you to come and join our team!

Here’s what our members say: “I thank all the drivers, office volunteers and staff and want them to know how much the service means to us!” “We can’t speak highly enough of it.” “It’s a lifeline for me.” “We think it’s absolutely wonderful.”

And it’s also beneficial to drivers: “I am always happy to meet and chat to people. I feel I am providing a good service. This service guarantees the client that they will be returned home safely and securely. And I feel good doing it.”

And office volunteers: “I absolutely love my volunteering. Initially, when I retired many years ago, it was a means of filling my time and getting me out of the house, but it has become so much more. I have learnt new skills, made new friends, and developed my self-confidence in areas which I did not have to use in my profession. It keeps my brain active too. But what I hadn’t anticipated was the pleasure I would feel at being able to help others and to know that what I am doing means something to someone else; every day spent volunteering is a rewarding experience, as well as being fun.”

Email your CV and covering letter to emma.cooney@kcv.org.uk with the subject line Transport Job highlighting why you would like to work for us and join the Transport team and how you meet the job description and essential and desirable requirements of the person specification.

Deadline Wednesday 25 October 23:59.

Interviews at our Head Office at 3 Park St Deal CT14 6AG on Wednesday 1 November 2023.
