Thanet Community Champions Awards and Christmas Events

Everyday extraordinary people across Thanet are working to support the lives of others and improve their neighbourhood.

They are the beating heart of our community and to celebrate their endeavours an awards ceremony will be held next March at St Augustine’s in Westgate.

The inaugural Thanet Community Champions Awards will showcase the very best of us – the unsung heroes, small businesses who step up, pioneering charity leaders and of course the isle’s army of volunteers who turn up come rain or shine to make a difference.

Oragnised by Social Enterprise Kent in collaboration with Thanet District Council this is a real chance to celebrate our community and we urge everybody to nominate – you can find the criteria and how to vote via the Social Enterprise Kent website.  Hurry! – DEADLINE: December 31, 2024.

Training, Networking and Festive Celebrations! – Thursday, December 5.

As part of the Community Champions programme KCV are providing free training sessions and networking events which is funded by Thanet District Council via the Shared Prosperity Fund. Next month a fantastic day of training and celebrations awaits our volunteers and organisations.

Taking place at performing arts venue, Sugar Rush in Ramsgate there will be a free Best Practice session – this training event has been designed for those in a leadership role and discusses how to navigate difficult situations. This two-hour session starts at 10am and you can book you place online.

Those attending the earlier session are invited to stay for the next event which is a chance to meet likeminded people for advice, friendship and fun. As our final session of the year, we will be providing drinks (bubbles!) and nibbles in a friendly, professional and inclusive environment – Nicola Wood from Thanet District Council will also be on hand to talk about the Community Champions Awards. Christmas cheer is actively encouraged! Join us for a drink – we’d love to see you.

To secure your free place, please book online.

Community Ad – Thanet

Next year there is a fantastic opportunity for charitable organisations and events across Thanet to publicise their volunteer opportunities via local news magazine, Community Ad.  This directory will be in addition to the usual publication and is posted through homes across the district. The information will include contact details and a brief description of your orgaisation. This is a brilliant way to reach a new volunteer base across a wide demographic and bolster your  provision. There is a limited number of spaces and it will be offered on a first come first serve basis. To secure your spot or find out more please email Jodie.nesling@kcv.org.uk or call 07531001040. DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES:  Friday, December 20
