We’re looking for volunteers with experience or interest in repairing household items, especially in the areas of:
- Electrical repairs (e.g. kettles, lamps, toasters)
- Clothing and textiles (e.g. sewing, patching, alterations)
- General repairs (e.g. furniture, toys, tools)
Whether you’re a professional, a passionate DIYer, or someone wanting to learn more, your skills can make a real difference.
What rewards come with volunteering, and how does it create meaningful change?
We are an environmental action group helping to recycle, reuse, and repair! So become a greenie and help save stuff from going into landfill and help people save money as well.
- Help community members assess and fix broken items during repair events
- Offer guidance, tips, and encouragement to those interested in learning
- Promote sustainability, reuse, and the power of fixing over throwing away
- Support safe repair practices and help with basic event setup if needed
Requirements
- Practical repair skills in one or more of the following:
- Small electricals (e.g. appliances, gadgets)
- Sewing and textiles (e.g. mending, alterations)
- DIY/general household repairs
- Problem-solving mindset – you enjoy figuring out how things work (and how to fix them!)
- Good communication skills – patient, friendly, and happy to engage with visitors
- Willingness to share knowledge – able to explain repairs or guide others in a helpful way
- Attention to safety – especially when dealing with electrical items or tools
- Team spirit – ready to pitch in, help with setup/pack down, and collaborate with others
