Description

We’re looking for volunteers with experience or interest in repairing household items, especially in the areas of:

  • Electrical repairs (e.g. kettles, lamps, toasters)
  • Clothing and textiles (e.g. sewing, patching, alterations)
  • General repairs (e.g. furniture, toys, tools)

Whether you’re a professional, a passionate DIYer, or someone wanting to learn more, your skills can make a real difference.

What rewards come with volunteering, and how does it create meaningful change?

We are an environmental action group helping to recycle, reuse, and repair!  So become a greenie and help save stuff from going into landfill and help people save money as well.

  • Help community members assess and fix broken items during repair events
  • Offer guidance, tips, and encouragement to those interested in learning
  • Promote sustainability, reuse, and the power of fixing over throwing away
  • Support safe repair practices and help with basic event setup if needed

Requirements

  • Practical repair skills in one or more of the following:
    • Small electricals (e.g. appliances, gadgets)
    • Sewing and textiles (e.g. mending, alterations)
    • DIY/general household repairs
  • Problem-solving mindset – you enjoy figuring out how things work (and how to fix them!)
  • Good communication skills – patient, friendly, and happy to engage with visitors
  • Willingness to share knowledge – able to explain repairs or guide others in a helpful way
  • Attention to safety – especially when dealing with electrical items or tools
  • Team spirit – ready to pitch in, help with setup/pack down, and collaborate with others
