Description

We’re a small local charity running a community gallery space, where we put on weekly creative wellbeing sessions for people who really need them. Our groups give people a safe, welcoming place to be and a friendly team they can trust.

Every week we run:

Monday: Young Adult Carers (ages 12 to 18), 3:45pm to 5:30pm
Tuesday: Art of Age, 10am to 12pm, for people living with dementia, their carers, and anyone over 65 who’s feeling isolated
Tuesday: Young Carers (ages 7 to 11), 3:45pm to 5:30pm
Thursday: Cancer Support Drop In, 9am to 1pm
Friday: Parents of Young Carers, 10am to 12pm

We also run a Young Carers Saturday Club at the Crosslinks Centre.

We’re lucky to have a lovely team of volunteers helping out at our groups, but we’ve got a gap in our fundraising team. As a small charity we rely on donations to keep the lights on and our groups running, so this role really does make a difference.

Charity pots are a big part of it. You’d get chatting to local businesses about hosting one of our pots, then pop back every so often to collect them, count and bank the money, and put them back out again. We also get invited to lots of local events, and sadly we sometimes have to say no because we don’t have enough people, having you on board means we can say yes more often! If you’ve got your own ideas, we’d love to hear them. Whether it’s organising a regular event or running a one off sponsored challenge, we’re open to anything !

You don’t need any fundraising experience. We’d love to hear from you if you’re friendly and happy chatting to new people, organised, trustworthy with handling money, and not afraid to use your initiative. We can be flexible and work around what suits you.

What rewards come with volunteering, and how does it create meaningful change?

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and feel more connected to your local community. You’ll pick up new skills, build your confidence and get some brilliant experience to add to your CV. It’s also just a really nice feeling knowing you’re giving something back and making a real difference to people’s lives. And with us, you’ll be part of a friendly, welcoming team who really appreciate every bit of time you give. By giving up your time it not only benefits you but it benefits the community around you and allows for us to keep running our groups and being present where people need us.
