What rewards come with volunteering, and how does it create meaningful change?
Volunteering is about far more than giving up a few hours of your time — it’s about becoming part of something bigger.
By volunteering at the Sandgate Sea Festival, you’ll help create a welcoming, safe and memorable experience for thousands of residents and visitors. From helping families find their way to supporting the smooth running of events, every volunteer plays an important part in bringing the community together.
The rewards of volunteering are often unexpected. Many people make new friends, gain confidence, enjoy being part of a team, and experience the satisfaction of giving something back to the place they live. There’s also a real sense of pride in seeing an event succeed knowing you helped make it happen.
Community festivals thrive because of local people stepping forward to help. A few hours of your time can make a lasting difference — creating memories, strengthening community spirit, and helping keep events like the Sandgate Sea Festival alive for future generations.
Volunteering is fully flexible — you can give as many or as few hours as you are able to across the weekend. Whether you can help for a short shift or longer, every contribution is valued and makes a real difference.
Requirements
We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers who enjoy meeting people and being part of a busy community event.
Stewarding duties involve being outdoors for periods of time and include a reasonable amount of walking and standing throughout the day while assisting residents and visitors around the festival area. Volunteers should therefore feel comfortable carrying out these activities safely and confidently.
No previous experience is required — just a positive attitude, good communication skills, and a willingness to help. Full guidance and support will be provided.
Volunteering at the Sandgate Sea Festival is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, support your local community, and play an important role in one of the parish’s most popular events.
