Description

Are you a keen gardener and wanting to help others, particularly those that have faced homelessness?

We are seeking volunteer gardeners to help keep and maintain the outdoor areas at our accommodation sites as welcoming and positive environments for the people we support.

We have relatively small gardens at a handful of properties based around central Canterbury.

If you are able to offer a few hours a week to help prune, plant and look after the gardens it would make such a difference. We are also keen to encourage the people we support to be involved with the ongoing care of the gardens and find the joy of gardening.

Days and hours are flexible.

To find out more or have an informal chat please contact volunteer@porchlight.org.uk

What rewards come with volunteering, and how does it create meaningful change?

Benefits to you

You can develop your skills and gain work experience with a reputable charity. There will be access training courses that are relevant to this role.

You’ll receive full travel expenses and be given any equipment needed to carry out your duties.

Not to mention being able to help support people when they need it most.

Requirements

Some experience of gardening / landscaping would be beneficial.

Undertake Porchlight induction.

Two references and DBS will be required (we pay for the DBS check)
