Thanet Volunteering Opportunities

The For Us Too charity are always happy to hear from people who might be interested in becoming a trustee. If you are able to get involved with marketing and social media, charity networking, or organising small fundraising events, that’s even better. No experience is necessary – just a desire to help out, have ideas and get involved.


Porchlight are looking for a gardener at their Margate hostel, and also an Activities Organiser  covering Canterbury, Dover and Thanet (days and times can be based around your availability). Diabetes – Can you help?  
Join Diabetes UK in Thanet as they campaign to raise awareness of diabetes and support those living with the condition.
They are looking for Events Volunteers who can give a few hours to man stalls, give out leaflets and help with logistics. No experience required, training provided. Volunteers should be confident speaking to people and have a ‘can do’ attitude. If you are interested in their volunteer roles and would like to find out more, or have a bit of  taster, they will be at Westwood Cross shopping centre at the Community Hub on Wednesday 22nd May between 11am and 3pm.

Folkestone and Hythe Opportunities

Love animals and helping people in difficulty? The RSPCA‘s Kent-Folkestone & District Branch are looking for up to three Pet Food Bank Distribution Volunteers for two to three hours each Friday, 11.30am  – 1.30pm (plus a small amount of set up time is needed). You would need to be able to attend Wood Avenue library in Folkestone.


Bright Shadow’s mission is to enable people living with dementia, and those affected by it, to live well and to thrive. They arrange creative activities designed specifically for people with dementia to enable self-expression, social interaction and active participation and they are looking for volunteers to support artists and the Zest coordinators in the delivery of creative sessions in Deal and Hythe for people living with dementia, their family, friends and carers and to work directly with participants with complex needs, enabling them to engage with each session. Dover District Opportunities

The White Cliffs Countryside Partnership has a new task programme for March.  It’s packed full of volunteer events and activities – dip in as and when it suits you! Porchlight are looking for Walking Group Volunteer to join the weekly walk in Dover on Wednesdays, 9.30 – 11.30am. This role is a way to make a big difference to others. If you’re passionate about giving people the chance to rebuild the confidence, improve their self-esteem and get to where they want to be in life, they want to hear from you. To apply for these roles download and complete the volunteer application form and email it to volunteer@porchlight.org.uk


Help Pick Deal Clean as part of 2024’s Great British Spring Clean. We would like to encourage local groups and organisations to pick litter and waste during this annual event between 15th and  31st March 2024 the whole nation will be taking action. As a community group itself, Pick Deal Clean is able to loan equipment which can be collected by arrangement from Deal Railway Station. All Area Opportunities

RNIB have many varied volunteering opportunities and in addition they are currently running a WhatsApp pilot scheme. This role is available to anyone across the UK. Applications from blind and partially sighted people are encouraged, although that isn’t essential.
