a:dress is a creative, community-based initiative working to slow down fast fashion at a local level.

We use upcycled clothing, poetry, film, public conversation and our signature ‘Subversive Catwalks’ to raise awareness about the devastating role of fast fashion in the climate and ecological crisis.

We have an Instagram account that needs a makeover and more expertise to help grow our audience and develop content.

What rewards come with volunteering, and how does it create meaningful change?

You would be joining a vibrant and diverse group of women, young women and girls who are passionate about the issue of fast fashion and climate crisis.

We make a difference! Our events create educational experiences that are accurate, immediate, accessible and playful.

As our work becomes increasingly recognisable, these messages are now being talked about across our town.

We have a growing track record in producing engaging, award-winning short films that have been screened in international film festivals.

Our films amplify local voices and connect our work to wider conversations about sustainability and consumer culture.

We have developed trusted relationships with several local retailers who actively support and participate in our work.

They are eager to display our message-adorned garments in their shop windows, providing high street visibility and public dialogue opportunities.

We run creative workshops and our Subversive Catwalks engage the public on the street and at events.

Beyond Folkestone, we have partnered with Hastings Contemporary, Fashion Action Now and EarthFest.

Requirements

• A knowledge of social media and developing content, and an ability to help us grow in our effectiveness.
• Ideally it would be great to upload something once a week but we would be happy to work with whatever time you can give.
