Premises / Facilities

These are the main functional roles for U.M.T. Trustees.  All Trustees receive on line training from the Corps to ensure they are fully aware of  issues surrounding working with young  people. This training can be spread over four months. We also carry out an enhanced DBS check at no cost to the volunteer.

Providing career, growth, and development opportunities for young people through The Leading Maritime youth Training Operation is a rewarding volunteer role.

What rewards come with volunteering, and how does it create meaningful change?

Sea Cadets has a significant positive impact on young people, fostering personal growth, confidence, and life skills. Reports indicate that participation in Sea Cadets leads to increased self-esteem, improved social skills, and better preparedness for future challenges. Specifically, 95% of surveyed former cadets reported a positive long-term impact on their lives,  and recognition by employers as disciplined, motivated individuals.

Requirements

Trustees are drawn from the community, not parents, or relatives of Cadets or Staff. They should be independent, objective, and team players with a sound business or professional background, and be able to draw on their own life skills  to contribute to the successful functioning of a Sea Cadet Unit.

Sea Cadets are an open organisation, encouraging all to participate in this exciting, life changing experience.
